Walking and Running for a Colleague

Runners at Angels Among Us
Magan Agee and Scott Epps ran the 5K to raise money for brain cancer research.

Several of us from Hoffman Nursery were happy to spend part of this past Saturday walking and running for a good cause. We were part of an event called Angels Among Us, a 5K run and family fun walk to benefit the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.

We were there to support our former colleague, Wendy Trueblood. She worked for many years at our nursery, but had to step down when faced with a brain tumor last year. Many of us from the nursery keep in touch and try to find ways to help.

Wendy’s team was called “Wendy’s Winners”, and everyone wore matching t-shirts. Both Wendy’s team and the entire event exceeded the fund-raising goal! It was a fantastic experience on a beautiful, spring day. We ran, we walked, and we celebrated the courage and support that came shining through at the event.

You can donate to the event if you would like to help continue their important research. Just go to the Angels Among Us donation page.
