DISCONTINUED - This dramatic variegated Giant Reed is known for keeping its coloring throughout the growing season. Whereas Arundo donax ‘Variegata’ may fade in the heat of summer, the green and cream leaves of ‘Peppermint Stick’ remain stable. Summer flower spikes top the foliage and may reach up to 18 feet. Its leaves arch in a manner reminiscent of a corn plant. If planted in moist soil in warm climates, Peppermint Stick Giant Reed may spread quickly and it should be kept in check. Under drier, cooler conditions this ornamental grass is easily maintained. Arundo donax ’Peppermint Stick’ requires a lot of growing room. Use this plant as a specimen, as filler in a tall mixed border, or use as a fast growing privacy screen. Peppermint Stick Giant Reed loves full sun and wet or dry conditions.
