Frank’s Sedge is native to North America and can be found in wet prairies, at the edges of bodies of water, wet meadows, bottomland forests, and floodplains. Its range includes Eastern and Central North America. This sedge grows in a mound with somewhat-wide foliage. In late spring it produces green, spiky one-inch long seed heads, giving it its alternate common name Bristly Cattail Sedge. Carex frankii is adaptable to both sun and part shade and prefers the moist or wet conditions of its natural habitats. Useful for remediation projects, ditches and wet spots in the landscape.
