The EverColor® series of sedges brings bright looks and personality to the party. With neat, flowing habits and evergreen foliage, EverColor® selections stand out in containers and as groundcovers. Selections in the series are easy to grow and colorful year-round. While tolerant of moist to dry conditions, they dislike being waterlogged and do best in moist, well-drained soils. They are well-suited to shade and can take some sun in cooler climates. Pat Fitzgerald, of Fitzgerald Nurseries, Ltd. in Ireland, developed this fun series out of old favorite, C. oshimensis ‘Evergold’.
Everest wears snow-white edges with a green center. More vivid and vigorous than its ‘Evergold’ parent, Everest Sedge shares its beautiful habit. It forms a neat mound of foliage that arches up from the crown and weeps gracefully. Everest was the winner of the Silver Medal at the Plantarium 2008 in Boskoop, Netherlands. It’s also been awarded Handpicked for You® certification, which promises better reliability and performance in the landscape.
The first in the EverColor® series to reach North American markets, it carries the cultivar name ‘Carfit01’. Variety protected by USA patent. Propagation without permission strictly forbidden.

GROWER INFO & TIPS
- Growth rate: medium
- Grow in 1 or 2-gallon containers
- Grow in well-drained soil; good drainage is important
- Water needs: keep evenly moist; may be moist-dry but not bone dry
- Fertilizing: use a slow release, low-medium rate fertilizer; very sensitive to over fertilization
- Possible pests: aphids, Bactra venosa caterpillar; anthracnose; fungus gnat larvae; Rhizoctonia is possible
- Overwintering: cold frame with clear poly, keep dry
- Slow to grow back after being cut back
- Good air circulation and spacing will reduce fungal problems
