  • Shade Tolerant


  • Growth rate: slow-medium (roots in quickly, tops are slower to fill out)
  • Grow in 1 or 2 gallon sizes; can be grown in larger sizes, but it will take some time to finish
  • Grow in well-drained soil
  • Water needs: keep moist
  • Fertilizing: use a slow release, medium-rate fertilizer
  • Possible pests: aphids, leaf spot, spidermites
  • Overwintering: cold frame with clear poly; do not overwater in winter
  • 50% shade is a must in the South, possibly less shade in the North
  • Allow dormant foliage to remain until new growth appears in spring, then cut back old foliage

  • Attractive cascading form
  • Use as a slow spreading groundcover in moist shade
  • Lovely golden-colored foliage
  • Looks great draped over rock walls, in borders or in masses planted under trees
  • Use in decorative urns with contrasting colored and textured plants
