This graceful Fountain Grass remains a top favorite ornamental grass. Its lovely blush-colored bottlebrush plumes show up mid-summer, providing months of garden beauty and enjoyment. Foliage and flower stalks sway with a touch of gentle breeze. Yet, this beauty is a real workhorse requiring little care or water once established. Its size, clump-forming habit, and texture lend itself to perennial borders and massed plantings. Pennisetum alopecuorides has an amazing tolerance to poor soil and has been known to adjust to light shade, although full sun is optimal. Pennisetum alopecuroides loves the heat and sun of summer. Blooms turn a magnificent almond color in autumn, making Fountain Grass an attractive addition for fall gardens.
