Take Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Little Bunny’, give its foliage red highlights in summer, add intense-burgundy fall color, and you’ve got a stunning dwarf fountain grass named ‘Burgundy Bunny’. It grows in a compact one-foot mound. In summer, petite bottlebrush plumes rise a bit above the foliage. Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Burgundy Bunny PP21917 looks beautiful in containers, and it excites borders or foreground plantings. Its small size makes it an excellent ornamental grass for small spaces. Drought tolerant once established. Lorne Blackman of Walla Walla, Washington discovered this beauty, a natural mutation of Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Little Bunny’. Asexual propagation is prohibited, and tags are required with each plant.
