HOFFMAN NURSERY UPDATES 2014-2015 CATALOG OF GRASSES

Updated catalog incorporates quick guides and in-depth information on ornamental and native grasses.

Rougemont, NC (July 28, 2014) – Hoffman Nursery recently released their 2014-2015 Catalog of Grasses, which delivers powerful content and expanded guides for grasses, sedges, and rushes. Updated selection tools give growers and horticultural professionals information to make smart choices.

Hoffman Nursery, Inc., located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, specializes in ornamental and native grass liners for the wholesale trade. Their catalog provides expanded, convenient, and functional information about ornamental and native grasses. “Our publications go hand in hand with our approach to customer service. Our sales, growing, and production teams are valuable resources. They help customers successfully select, grow and market their grasses,” says Shannon Currey, Marketing Director. “The Hoffman Nursery Catalog of Grasses puts another resource at customers’ fingertips. Because we specialize in grasses, we can offer expertise and real depth in a convenient, easy-to-use format.”

The 12-page Quick Guide at the front of the catalog emphasizes function in the landscape and offers solutions to landscape challenges. It suggests plants for common site situations, such as quick-growing grasses for slopes, selections for rain gardens, and grasses and sedges for shade. Plants are also grouped by physical attributes such as hardiness zone, height, and active growing season. The Quick Guide also includes an extensive list of North American native grasses and sedges.

Along with overviews of major genera, each of their 177 selections includes a full description and a set of quick facts for easy reference. This year, Hoffman Nursery expanded the catalog to include in-depth guides to popular grasses. Readers can compare the subtle differences of cultivars within Miscanthus, Panicum, Pennisetum, and Schizachyrium.

New plant selections include native stand-outs Andropogon gerardii ‘Red October’ PP26283, Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Standing Ovation’ PPAF, and Sporobolus heterolepis ‘Tara’. All new selections have expanded descriptions to build customer knowledge and support marketing efforts.
