Known for its gorgeous blue foliage, Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’ is also one of the most dependable fescues. It grows in a tight clump, less than one-foot tall, which highlights its striking blue color. Spikes of blue-tinged inflorescences emerge in June. A cool-season ornamental grass, Elijah Blue Fescue can maintain its color throughout the winter months and will slow down and perhaps die back in hot, humid summers. Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’ prefers Northern climates, but can look good in the South with afternoon shade and well-drained soil. The fescues are native to France. This cold-hardy cultivar was found at the Plantage Nursery on Long Island. Must ship by May 31.
