Dwarf Fountain Grass packs great qualities into a handsome plant. Perhaps that is why it’s a best seller year after year. It is the right size to fit many landscapes, it grows in a nifty two-foot fountain shape, and it produces pretty bottlebrush blooms. Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Hameln’ also requires little maintenance and thrives in full sun and dry conditions. When planted in sweeps, its narrow stalks topped with blooms form a sea of motion. Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Hameln’ transforms ordinary edges into lush borders. It works well as filler for large areas or as a specimen in small patios. This ornamental grass is also lovely in decorative containers, either as the main attraction or combined with contrasting plants.
