Gala in the Garden 2013 at the JC Raulston Arboretum

Leroy the Dragon at Gala in the Garden
Leroy the Dragon burst through the lawn at the JC Raulston Arboretum’s Gala in the Garden.

We have the perfect antidote for a dreary spring—find a party and help sponsor it. You get extra fun if the party is for a great cause. Hoffman Nursery served as a Gold Sponsor of the JC Raulston Arboretum’s 2013 Gala in the Garden on April 28. We loved the theme, “An Asian Reflection”, which featured the Arboretum’s Asian Valley festooned with paper lanterns. A fabulous, bamboo dragon named Leroy greeted us as we emerged onto the event lawn.

Tents overflowed with unusual plants, artisan-made gifts, and fun getaways, all of which were up for auction. Arboretum staff circulated among the guests, answering questions and telling interesting stories about the items. And did we mention the food? All this made the rain seem quite unimportant as we visited with friends and bid for auction items.

John Hoffman & Tony Avent at Gala in the Garden
At Gala 2013, John Hoffman (R) visits with Tony Avent (L), owner of Plant Delights Nursery.

Proceeds from the Gala directly support the daily operations of the JC Raulston Arboretum, including teaching, research, public outreach, and garden displays. Hoffman Nursery is proud to sponsor this event. We hope to see you there next year!
