2018 Summer Internship

General Nursery Management

This full-time internship is intended to allow a self-motivated student or recent graduate to gain exposure to a wholesale nursery through studying and working with a wholesale ornamental and native grass nursery.

The intern will spend time with each section of the business including growing, shipping, sales, production, marketing, facilities, inventory, and others. This will help the participant understand the interaction between each part of the business and will provide practical experience in running a nursery in today’s evolving industry.

If an intern has specific learning interests that are compatible with our operational needs at the time, we may be able to accommodate a focus on those interests.

Some Internship Details

Desired Qualifications:

  • A strong willingness to learn and a good work ethic.
  • Must have a passion for plants
  • Must be eager to learn about grasses
  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year studying horticulture, agricultural business, environmental sciences, or other closely related majors OR a recent graduate of same
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must provide own transportation

Compensation and incentives:

  • $10.00/hour
  • Gas stipend may be available  

***Special 2018 opportunity*** Attend all or part of the Perennial Plant Association Symposium and surrounding events. 

Dates and length: Beginning May 29, 2018 and ending August 3, 2018 (dates may be somewhat flexible)

Location: Southeastern US. Rougemont, NC, north of Durham, NC

Work week: 5 days a week, 40 hours per week with occasional weekend work
