This clumping, cool season grass rests quietly in the garden in a 12-inch, eye-catching mound of yellow-green leaves. But in midsummer, Sesleria autumnalis wakes up with a spectacular show. Narrow stems emerge and hover high above with silvery-white inflorescences that dance and sway in the breeze. When planted in masses, the look is absolutely stunning. Autumn Moor Grass is good looking, uncomplicated and robust. It is reasonably drought tolerant and fits the need for a small, congenial grass in the full-sun to part-shade landscape. Plants in the Sesleria genus are named to honor Leonardo Sesler, an important figure in the botanical world of the 18th Century.
